Jumper

I went to see Jumper with my friends last friday. I throughly enjoyed it. It’s not a deep movie, theres no character development, or award winning dialogue, but it is a damn fun movie. I used to say flying would be my favorite super power, and although it is way cliche it still has it’s merrits; But I live in the digital world and I have ADD. Lets say I wanted to get to Paris from New York for a date. I’ve gotta fly, even at supersonic speeds its going to take me some time to get there. Plus going that fast is gonna mess up my hair, and dishevel my carefully picked outfit. I would have to check the weather all the way across the ocean to make sure I wasn’t going to hit and storms along the way. Half way across the world I would remember my wallet (which I left on the tv while I was watching the weather) so now i’m turning myself around. Then it starts getting dark and cold. Shivering my ass off above the atlantic ocean (probably got caught in rain anyway) puts me in a rotten mood. I finally get to my date, late, cranky, wet, cold, and looking like a Hobo. Fail! Instanteanous travel on the other hand. I relax all afternoon and rehurse my lines while getting ready. My alarm goes off and pop! I’m walked down the street in France. I called ahead my table is ready. I sweep her off my feet, wile passionat sex ensues and we live happily ever after. Jumping just seems so much more practical.

The movie had some good special effects, and watching Davy have lunch on top of the sphinx was just damn cool. I doubt I’ll get to do that on my trip to Egypt. ;)

Music Database, A Real Guitar Hero

I have been spending my time on some various projects, the most rewarding of which has been my Online Music Database.  Through the miracle of Jinzora I have begun hosting if a website that will allow anyone to stream my entire music collection to their speakers.  Currently I am hosting this server off of my laptop but I will be transferring it to a separate machine once I have it built.  The results have been slightly mixed but all in all very positive.

This project came about because of complications at work regarding our music listening habits.  We have been using Pandora a program which takes your favorite artists and songs and compiles your own personal radio station that plays your favorites plus new music that has a similar sound.  It is quite a remarkable way to find new music and I can list atleast five new bands that I have been introduced to since starting my free subscription.  (If you would like to hear what’s been ringing inside my ears check it out: Haen Radio.)   The trouble is that the use of this station has been getting so popular that the company I work for has been ordering it’s employees to refrain from using it.  At the current time we can still access the site but we are sure it’s address will be added into the internet proxy banned list.  So I created my personal music database with streaming content, and so far i’ve been enjoying it greatly.  The link is located down the side of my page, feel free to sign up and send me some responces on what you think.

I also wanted to share this amazingly talented musician I just stumbled upon Justin Kingfrom Eugene, Oregon has one of the most original guitar styles I have ever seen. This video has completely blown me away and his debut solo album “Le Bleu” is just as outstanding. Take a look and if you see him coming around near you, catch him on tour.

First Post Excitement

I promised myself I wouldn’t just post mindless ramblings, at least not without letting them sit on my desktop in drafts and then publishing them after revision.  I want what I post here to be practiced, maybe even (mis)construe some sense of meaning, but I did just create this blog and I personally think it looks pretty damn nice with my custom image at the top, I just couldn’t help my self from writing out my first post in haste.  I never even really considered blogging before a few days ago, I don’t even like to use the term ‘blog’ it sounds too, fashion, but one of my co-workers was showing me his and it gave me a different view of him.  I can’t think of the right word to describe it but I thought maybe I have something to say too.  So here I am.

This reminds me of my old OpenDiary and LiveJournal accounts, although I have left them those sites treated me to some good memories and some amazing friends.  I hope I find the same here, but with a little less drama, and a little more wisdom.  Time to sign out and get some dinner.  Next Post: Music Project
